Weston Park Hospital Cancer Research Centre

Weston Park Cancer Research Centre (CRC) is a world leader in cancer research. Recognised as an elite centre in the UK it has also been recently designated an Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre in Development.

The Weston Park Cancer Research Centre

Supporting cancer research at Weston Park directly benefits local people whilst building hope for the future locally, nationally and internationally.

Developments in cancer care rely on evidence generated from clinical trail participation.

The CRC facilitates a broad range of clinical research trials which have given thousands of patients in our region the opportunity to participate and have access to the latest drugs and treatments available.

Patients also benefit from the detailed, special monitoring and close medical and nursing supervision given on a research trial. It is acknowledged that trial involvement lifts a patient’s feelings of well being, and so is again beneficial to their general health.

This participation has recently been recognised to be so advantageous that the NHS recommends, where possible, it becomes part of the standard package of care. We are one of the best areas in the country for recruiting people to clinical trials.

None of this would be possible if you, our generous supporters had not given and continue to give donations to the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Appeal which not only built the CRC (1999) but continues to provide core funding of £270,000 a year to keep it running.

We also provide additional funds for other research projects as well. So please help us continue and expand this vital work.

We hope you agree it is a local treasure bringing many benefits to cancer patients here and everywhere.

Your donation today will help patients now and in the future.
