Family have a head for heights
Not one, not two but five members of the France family from Sheffield, launched themselves off the tower of St Mary's church at Bramall Lane, abseiling to raise funds in memory of their cherished dad and husband John.
How do you commemorate a much missed, loved and cherished family member? Well, when the France family saw that the Cancer Appeal was running an abseil down the church tower at St Mary's on the anniversary of husband and dad John's passing away they decided they would have a go and raise some money to help other cancer patients in the region. "We thought it would be fitting to do something for Weston Park because they were amazing," said Sue France. Sue also encouraged her children Simon, Sally and Laura and son-in-law Steven Tomlinson to join in. Here's Sue coming down:- Sue makes it look easy enough doesn't she? But it was 138 steps up to the top of the tower. An agonising step over the edge and then 140 feet down. And they all made it down with smiles on their faces. Congratulations to all of the France family and we thank them for their fundraising which will be put towards making things better for local people with cancer. By helping the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Appeal they are helping to support research and improve treatments and care right here in South Yorkshire and the North Midlands. If you are interested in abseiling for Weston Park Hospital please contact us and we will send you the details and dates of our next event.
