Adam Johnson from Killamarsh and Bret Holden from Doncaster are both being treated on the unit which prides itself on giving youngsters between the ages of 16 and 26 more of a home from home experience while they are being treated.

The Owls defender also signed autographs and met with staff and patients on the general wards at Weston Park when he dropped in to present a cheque on behalf of the Sheffield Wednesday members club who had held a raffle in aid of the hospital’s Cancer Appeal.

“It brings a bit of something different to the wards and has brightened up quite a few peoples’ days,” says fundraiser Leanne Nicholson. “We have some staunch Wednesday supporters around here who have thoroughly enjoyed Steve’s visit.”
